Techman Robot, CSBC, and AMET Sign MOU to Develop Smart Welding Solutions for the Shipbuilding Industry

Leading collaborative robot manufacturer, Techman Robot, Taiwan’s largest shipbuilding company, CSBC Corporation, and AMET Inc., a U.S. leader in intelligent welding technology, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The three parties will jointly develop robots tailored for the shipbuilding environment, accelerating the industry’s transition to smart manufacturing while enhancing welding efficiency and quality.

Partnering with Global Leaders to Pioneer a New Era of Smart Welding

Techman Robot is dedicated to providing intelligent welding solutions. Its TM AI Welding Collaborative Robot has already been widely adopted in industries requiring high-precision welding, including shipbuilding, large-scale steel structures for airport terminals, and offshore wind power. Addressing the global shortage of skilled welders, Techman Robot is now joining forces with AMET and CSBC. By leveraging AMET’s expertise in heavy industries such as aerospace, shipbuilding, energy, and automotive, along with CSBC’s extensive experience and real-world applications in shipbuilding, the three companies aim to expand the global automated AI welding market. This collaboration will drive the development of next-generation smart collaborative welding robots and advance the intelligent transformation of the shipbuilding industry.

Empowering the Shipbuilding Industry with Smart Manufacturing for Greater Productivity

As Taiwan’s largest shipbuilder, CSBC will focus on developing compact welding robots designed specifically for large bulk carriers and container ships. By integrating intelligent welding technology, this initiative will significantly boost production efficiency and welding quality in the shipbuilding sector. Additionally, the adoption of this technology will help shorten production cycles and reduce labor costs.

In the United States, the shipbuilding, aerospace, and defense industries are accelerating the adoption of automation and AI-driven manufacturing to enhance production efficiency. Techman Robot and AMET’s AI-powered intelligent welding solutions will provide greater flexibility and precision, allowing manufacturers to adapt to the complex structures of modern shipbuilding. Additionally, the automation of welding processes will reduce reliance on manual labor, improve cost efficiency, and shorten production cycles, contributing to the competitiveness of U.S. heavy industries.

By bringing cutting-edge AI welding technologies to the global shipbuilding sector, Techman Robot, CSBC, and AMET are setting new industry standards, driving the future of smart manufacturing and intelligent automation.

Techman Robot Partners with Telamon Robotics and Vincennes University to Advance Cobot Education in the U.S.

Techman Robot continues to expand its global influence in automation and smart manufacturing by collaborating with its U.S. distributor, Telamon Robotics, and Vincennes University (VU) through the Center for Applied Robotics and Automation (CARA). As the home of the largest collaborative robot (cobot) educational program in the United States, VU is working with Telamon Robotics and the STARTedUp Foundation to offer Innovation Cobot Workshops, providing hands-on learning experiences for high school students and educators across Indiana, with a special focus on rural and underserved communities.

CARA Director Kimberly Wright highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “The Innovation Cobot Workshops demonstrate Vincennes University’s commitment to shaping Indiana’s future workforce and driving economic growth. These workshops are about creating access and opportunity. By introducing students and educators to cutting-edge cobot technology, we are preparing them for in-demand careers in Industry 4.0 and empowering them to be leaders in an era of continuous technological evolution.”

These immersive workshops are hosted at CARA locations on Vincennes and VU Jasper campuses, as well as Telamon Robotics’ facility in Carmel, where high school students engage in hands-on experiences with Techman Robot’s cobot technology. Recently, students and staff from Eastern Hancock High School participated in the program.

Eastern Hancock High School Math and Business Teacher Cole Allen emphasized the program’s impact: “Our school is always looking to partner with companies and community leaders to help students explore potential career paths after graduation. Through this workshop, students not only gained firsthand experience working with a cobot but also discovered career opportunities they hadn’t previously considered.”

During these one-day workshops, students interact directly with Techman Robot’s cobots, exploring various STEM career pathways in robotics, advanced manufacturing, and automation. The program also equips educators like Allen with the knowledge and tools to integrate AI and automation into their classrooms, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the future of work.

Telamon Robotics Vice President of Sales and Operations Paulo Dutra e Mello stated, “Through our partnership with the STARTedUp Foundation and Vincennes University’s Center for Applied Robotics and Automation, we are providing high school students with hands-on experience in collaborative robotics, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in an increasingly automated world. These workshops serve as an exciting introduction to real-world robotics applications.”

As a global leader in collaborative robotics, Techman Robot is committed to advancing technology education and, together with Telamon Robotics and Vincennes University, is bringing innovative learning opportunities to Indiana’s next generation. By expanding access to cutting-edge automation technology, this partnership is helping to shape the future workforce and strengthen the competitiveness of the U.S. manufacturing industry.
